But,In Japan,you need fishing licence only when

  • you fishing in fishing pond in the sea

In other fishing point,you don’t need fishing licence.

In Japan,on most cases,you do not need fishing licence.

But,you need fishing licence when you fishing on situation like below.

In fact,the rules of fishing are not determined clearly in Japan except below cases.

Japanese anglers have tacit understanding to fishing.I will introduce them too.

When you fishing in mountain stream or creek with ayu or japanese char.

When you fishing in mountain stream,you need fishing licence.

In Japan,river fishermans release and stock young ayu or char.

They grow up in this river or come back this river.

That is why,river fisherman’s association spend much money for stocking fishes or river environmental preservation.

So,you must pay the fee for fishing in river in Japan.

(Some anglers do not know it.)

When you buy the fishing licence for river fishing,go to fishing shop near the river you want to go fishing.

There may be some types fishing licence;one day licence,one year licence etc..

Fishing licence is 「遊漁券(YU U GYO KE N)」in Japanese.

These are different depending on the river.Then,you can use the licence in only the river that the licence give permission.

(When you buy the licence,that not indicate you can fishing in any river but in only one or two river)

 

One day fishing licence is sold for about ¥1000~¥5000,one year licence is sold for about ¥4000~¥20000.(depending the river)

If you fishing in mountain stream without buying licence,you must pay extra cost.

When you fishing in fishing pier in the sea

When you fishing in fishing pier,you need the ticket.

You can buy the ticket at the entrance the fishing pier.

The ticket is sold for about ¥800~¥3000.

In some fishing pier,a small shop sale a fishing bait or snack or luncheon.
